Author bio
For 18+ years I have provided copyediting, line editing, language editing, proofreading, and selective ghostwriting to academics, memoirists, nonfiction authors, businesses, and professionals.
IMPACT-MAKER: STRATEGIC NONFICTION DEVELOPMENT
In addition to editorial work, I partner with consultants, speakers, advisors, and experts through my Impact-Maker service to develop nonfiction books that serve clear professional goals. That strategic perspective informs all of my coaching and editing. Strong writing succeeds not only at the sentence level, but also in how it positions the author, supports their expertise, and guides readers through ideas with purpose.
A COLLABORATIVE, RESPECTFUL PROCESS
Every project begins with respect for your knowledge and intentions. I approach both book coaching and editing as collaborative processes grounded in clarity, trust, and thoughtful judgment. My goal is to make the work rigorous and rewarding, so your manuscript becomes a confident, polished expression of your best thinking.
EXPERIENCE WITH SERIOUS NONFICTION
I have edited and proofread nonfiction for publishers including Watershed Media and Management Concepts Press, whose titles include Food Fight: A Citizen’s Guide to a Food and Farm Bill, Plain Language in Government Writing, and The Five Commitments of a Leader. I also have extensive experience editing memoir for Medusa’s Muse Press and private clients, where voice preservation and narrative nuance are essential.
Across genres, authors consistently note my ability to strengthen accuracy, rhythm, and readability while preserving their intent and perspective. My aim is never to overwrite a manuscript, but to help the author’s thinking land with greater force and clarity.
WORK WITH MULTILINGUAL AND INTERNATIONAL AUTHORS
Since 2007, I have edited research papers in the social sciences and humanities for academics whose primary language is not English. I understand how structures and habits from a writer’s first language can surface in English, influencing syntax, cadence, and emphasis in ways that affect tone and accuracy. My editing is attuned to these influences, so the writing reads as natural, confident English without flattening the author’s voice.
This sensitivity allows me to help authors communicate naturally and confidently to global audiences, whether English is their first language or not.
